About us

Biobanking is the process of collecting, storing, and managing biological specimens and associated data for current and future use in research. Biobanks are becoming increasingly important as they enable researchers to study a wide range of diseases, their underlying mechanisms, and potential treatments. Quality is a critical factor in biobanking as it affects the reliability and reproducibility of research results. The Albuquerque Central Biorepository is committed to integrating quality in every step of the biospecimen’s lifecycle by adhering to strict processes and procedures for specimen acquisition, processing, storage, and shipping to preserve sample integrity and traceability. Our team has expertise in the ethical ,legal, and regulatory compliance pertaining to biospecimen-related storage and research and is dedicated to building trust and confidence among researchers and veterans.

Services Offered

From receiving and storing, to labeling, tracking, processing, and distribution, the Albuquerque Central Biorepository provides customized services and solutions designed to meet the biobanking needs of each clinical trial.

Staff and Facilities

Our highly motivated and experienced team collaborates and partners with Cooperative Studies Program Coordinating Centers, Clinical Research & Development, and the Million Veteran Program and Site Investigators to develop and implement customized biobanking solutions for clinical trials. Our modern facility includes over 90 ultralow freezers, 16 liquid nitrogen cryogenic freezers, and a laboratory for processing including high-throughput automated robotic workstations.

Our dedicated staff consists of a director, chief, program manager, health science and quality assurance  specialists, and medical technicians.

ISO 20387:2018 Accredited

As part of our commitment to quality excellence, the Albuquerque Central Biorepository obtained ISO 20387:2018 accreditation in 2019.
