Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death for veterans and in the world, for both men and women in industrialized countries, accounting for an estimated 28% of all cancer deaths in the United States. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) represents the majority of these cancers,, and NSCLC has a 5-year survival rate of ~23% with current treatment options palliative.
