Approximately 1 in 3 Americans will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime (IOM, 2006). Within VA last year alone, an estimated 10,421 patients received platinum-based chemotherapy with cisplatin [2,443], carboplatin [5,621], or oxaliplatin  (VA Cancer Registry, 2018).
