View full abstract and other project information on NIH RePORTER Go To NIH RePORTER Excerpt: Diarrhea associated with inflammation or pathogen infection remains a major health problem in our veteran patient population with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) leading to frequent hospitalizations and increased healthcare costs. Therefore, a better understanding of the molecular pathophysiology of diarrhea is critically needed to develop effective and targeted therapeutic modalities.
